Back to School Event - Backpack Giveaway

On Saturday, August 17, 2024, the Jourdan Lewis Foundation hosted a back-to-school event giving away free backs to all school students in the community. The event was held at the Chase bank Harbortown location near downtown in the heart of Detroit. Chase bank has helped sponsor the foundations efforts to give bank to the community. During the event Chase bank offered a free homebuyer's workshop for first time home buyers which was a great success.

The event had vendors form Au Some City which is an organization that helps autistic children. Athletics for Charity another non-profit organization that supports young athletes, brought donations of snacks and school supplies. The Detroit Police Department assisted with traffic flow. Detroit's Original Seafood Truck gave free chicken tenders, catfish and fryers. The Diamond Beauty School gave appointment vouchers for hair styles and cuts for the kids. Summertime Pros photography supported the event by giving free photos, by using a portable photo booth for the kids to capture the moment. There was popcorn, cotton candy and more. There were in total over 200 children that came to the event.

The foundation is extremely grateful to be able to have such wonderful event for the children. Thank you again to all of our sponsors, vendors and volunteers.
